Today, Saturday 7 November 2026, is Community Day: a worldwide day of local meetups for people who use the Open Home Foundation's projects. Unlike last year's edition, which was Home Assistant only, this year also covers ESPHome and Music Assistant.

What is it?

There is no fixed programme. According to the foundation's Community Day page, each host decides what happens at their event: swapping hardware, showing off automations, running quizzes or giving presentations. Meetups are listed on Luma, and the foundation says it supports hosts with a playbook, venue reimbursement guidelines and a merchandise request form.

How big is it?

The foundation's own figures for the 2025 edition were 82 events, 26 hours of continuous meetups and more than 1,600 registered guests. It has not published 2026 numbers on the page we read, so we cannot say yet whether this year is bigger.

What to expect from the announcements

The page lists no talks, speakers or scheduled announcements for 2026, so we are not predicting any. If the foundation publishes a recap, we will look at it. In the meantime, the most recent release is Home Assistant 2026.11.

If you want to join in

Meetups are usually free and informal, so you can turn up with a problem automation or a spare board. Check Luma for an event near you, or ask in the community's Discord channel.
