New Apple TV 4K: A19 chip, Wi-Fi 7, 128GB and a £299 price tag
Apple has announced a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, available from 13 November. It is faster and better connected, and noticeably dearer than before.

Apple announced a new Apple TV 4K on 13 October, with availability from 13 November 2026. The UK price is £299, according to Apple's UK store, for a single 128GB model.
What Apple says has changed
- Chip: the Apple A19, with up to 50% faster CPU and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous model, according to Apple.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7 (where supported in your country), a Gigabit Ethernet port, Thread support for HomeKit and Matter accessories, and HDMI 2.1.
- Picture and sound: Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos, as before.
- Voice: three far-field microphones. Apple's page describes Siri AI as in beta in tvOS 27.2, rolling out in English with usage limits, and says it will not initially be available in the EU.
- Size: about 93 mm square, 31 mm high, 217 g.
Review coverage also reports a dedicated AV1 decoder, a remote that can be located through Find My, and wireless surround from up to four matching HomePod speakers; we have not verified those on Apple's own pages, so treat them as reported.
The price
At £299 this is well above the £99 Google TV Streamer and the Fire TV Stick range. Apple no longer lists a cheaper no-Ethernet variant on its UK page, so there is no entry-level option in this generation. Whether the A19's extra speed matters for streaming apps is doubtful: it is more relevant for games, Apple's own services and the new voice features.
Should you buy it?
If you live in Apple's ecosystem and want a quiet, fast box with Ethernet and Thread, it is the best of the bunch. If you only want Netflix and iPlayer, the cheaper boxes in our streaming box comparison, which we have updated with the new specifications, do the job. With Black Friday on 27 November, expect discounting on the older competitors, though not necessarily on a model that only goes on sale on 13 November.
