Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems compared: TP-Link Deco BE25, eero 7, ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 and Netgear Orbi 770

Two dual-band and two tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh kits, compared on the manufacturers' own specifications: bands, ports, coverage claims and subscription catches.

Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems are now sold at almost every price point, but the spec sheets hide a few differences that matter more than the headline "BE" number. This comparison sets four current systems side by side using only the manufacturers' own product pages: the TP-Link Deco BE25, the Amazon eero 7, the ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 and the Netgear Orbi 770 series.

The short version

The biggest split is between dual-band and tri-band designs. The Deco BE25 and eero 7 use only the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The ZenWiFi BT8 and Orbi 770 add a 6 GHz band, which gives them far more headroom, and mesh systems of this type can use a spare band to link the nodes together rather than sharing the one your phone is using. None of the four lists a 10 Gigabit port, so a multi-gigabit fibre line beyond 2.5 Gbps would not be fully used over Ethernet on any of them.

Which one for which home?

A flat or small house on a budget: Deco BE25 or eero 7

Both give you Wi-Fi 7 and 2.5 GbE ports at the lower end of the range, and both are dual-band. That is fine for broadband up to a couple of gigabits and a modest number of devices, but you give up the 6 GHz band entirely. If you want Home Assistant-style local control, the eero 7 is the only one here that lists a Zigbee hub and Thread, with Matter support, built into the unit.

A larger or denser home: ZenWiFi BT8 or Orbi 770

These are the two tri-band options. The BT8 lists the highest per-band rates and a USB 3.0 port, handy for a simple shared drive, though it has only one spare 2.5G port. The Orbi 770 lists 2,750 sq ft per satellite and two 2.5 GbE ports on each satellite.

Things to check before you buy

  • Subscriptions: parental controls and advanced security are often behind a paid plan (TP-Link says so explicitly). Check what you would actually use.
  • Cloud accounts: several of these systems are set up through a phone app and a vendor account. If owning your stack matters to you, check what still works without the account.
  • Wired backhaul: if you can run Ethernet between nodes, every system here performs better, and the band you save can serve devices instead.
  • Prices: the manufacturers' own pages list none, so the price row above comes from Amazon.co.uk listings seen on 7 November 2026. They change often and other retailers may differ; the 3-pack Deco BE25 had no price shown. Note that a single eero 7 (£169.99) costs more than a single Deco BE25 (£109.99) although both are dual-band. A TP-Link Deco BE9300 tri-band 3-pack was listed at £420.00, which is worth a look if you want 6 GHz for less. Watch for Black Friday offers on 27 November.

What we could not verify

Amazon listings quote coverage figures that differ from the Netgear page (4,500 sq ft for the Orbi 770 2-pack and 6,750 sq ft for the 3-pack), so treat all coverage numbers as marketing. The ASUS page does not state CPU, coverage area or device count, and the Netgear page gives only an aggregate speed. Real-world speed, range and reliability depend on your walls and neighbours, and we have not tested these systems ourselves.
